A blend of local Portuguese grapes Castelao 60%; Alfrocheiro 15%; Touriga Nacional 15%; Tinta Miuda 10% from 2 small vineyards planted in 1995 and 1999, organic certified since. Hand-harvest by experienced pickers who are familiar with the vineyards selection criteria; the grapes were selected directly from the vines into 15kg boxes. Then de-stemmed into open vats and then barefoot treading occurred once a day. Aged for 18 months in old oak barrels of 14hl and 24hl. The winemaking process used only the natural grape fermentation process, with no addition of oenological products other than a dash of SO2, for conservation purposes. Bottled in May 2018 unfiltered and unfined. Refreshing minerality and wild fruits, redcurrant and blackberries. Very well balanced with firm structure and minerality. Limited production 5000 bottles.
