Product Description
Humus Branco is a blend of Fernao Pires, 28 years old, and Arinto 14/28 years old white grapes from Encosta da Quinta, Lisboa. Hand harvest in small boxes and carefully selected, the grapes were gently pressed by direct press. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeast in 225L old oak barrels and left for 9 months. Nothing was added to the wine. Bottled without any finning or filtration, no sulphites added. Rodrigo makes 2000 bottles, small production.
Tasting notes: nose of mature apples, it’s also waxy in the aroma (from fernão pires). Full on the palate, a bit buttery, and with a good acidity (for which arinto is often a guarantist, but here also the climate). It has in fact more arinto, but the fernão pires shows a lot of influence.
