Celler Vendrell i Rived, Montsant

Celler Vendrell Rived is a family-based winery founded in 2000, headed up by the husband and wife team of Josep Maria Vendrell and Núria Barceló. The family vineyards are located in the little village of Marçà in the D.O. Montsant wine region in south-western Catalonia (North-eastern Spain), in total of 25 hectares. They own three vineyard plots; Mas d’en Crusta, Mas d’en Joan Gros and Pedrenyeres. The grapes, Grenache and Carignan, are sourced from the family’s old-vine vineyards, planted by their ancestors. Josep controls the vineyards everyday to understand the needs of each single vine preventing deseases. The couple have also planted new vineyards in the last 15-20 years. All the vineyards are treated with organic system and controlled by the CCPAE (Catalan Council of Agrarian Ecological Production). Josep Maria and Núria are working towards leaving a better legacy for their three children and their focus on high quality wines with personality and self-expression.
