Located in Sotillo de Ribera, this is the second generation of siblings Cristina, José Félix, Beatriz and Noelia Callejo who are the passionate team that run this medium sized family own winery. Jose and Noelia have been gaining experience in several wineries around the world, highlighting Petrus among them, for instance. Following his father’s farming and winemaking knowledge, in 2000 they made an important decision, working in Organic all vineyards. The high altitude, 850-900 metres, makes this spot a natural privileged environment, with soils of chalk, pebbles and gravel, in the highest vineyards and clay at the plain level. The accurate and hard job at the vineyards is followed by the respectful work at the winery: manual harvest, double selection table, grapes entered by gravity. The styles of wine are directly linked to the vineyards where they come from. Flores comes from clay soils about 850 metres and it is a fruity version of the Tinta del país. Planted in gravel soils, Majuelos, traditional Castilian name for small vines in poor soils, make low yielding harvests and much more elegant and fine wines, to be aged. Parajes is a traditional local blend of red and white, which results in a surprising refreshing red, despite of good structure, balanced tannins and body. All wines are fermented with native yeast and none-or slight filtration.
